VICKSBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Vicksburg officials say their “Burg Days of Summer” has brought thousands of dollars to the village.
Burg Days are free weekly events that feature activities for families, food trucks, games, live music, and more.
Village Manager Jim Mallery says attendance this year has been as high as 4,500 people and Vicksburg was inspired by Holland’s Wednesday night event series.
Vicksburg partnered with Discover Kalamazoo this year to track where attendees were from, and discovered over half of them are from the surrounding areas.
Mallery says retail stores, pubs, restaurants, bars, and taverns have had a 40-to-50% increase in business on Wednesdays during Burg Days and says Friday and Saturday activities are up 7-to-8% as well.
Jaspare’s Pizza owner Todd Glenn says their business has increase 30-to-40%, and says other non-beverage and food businesses are up 20%. Glenn is also suggesting holding Burg Days of Winter a few times.
