KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State Senator Sean McCann of Kalamazoo says he has raised over $300,000 in his bid for the U.S. House in 2026.
McCann is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga.
He says he raised the money in the third fundraising quarter from 3,076 individual donors.
McCann says 82% of the contributions came from Michigan residents, and the average is $72.99. He adds that shows there is grassroots support for his campaign.
Michigan’s 4th congressional district has been represented for years by a Republican, with former Congressman Fred Upton holding the seat in the former 6th U.S. House district that includes Kalamazoo, Berrien, and Van Buren counties before he retired when the boundaries were redrawn for the 2022 election.
