LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Hopkins Public Schools school psychologist Becca Drozd is being honored by the Michigan Lottery with an Excellence in Education award.
The Michigan Lottery established the Excellence in Education awards in 2014, recognizing outstanding educators in public schools statewide.
The Allegan County school psychologist received a $2,000 cash prize and is among the weekly award winners who will be eligible for the Michigan Lottery’s Educator of the Year award, which comes with a $10,000 cash prize.
She says she has “always been drawn to working with kids and am passionate about helping them feel loved and confident.” Drozd adds working in education gives her the chance to foster and support children and work with families and the community.
Drozd was nominated for the award by the district’s special education director.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from Hope College and a master’s degree from the University of Detroit Mercy, and has been an educator for nine years, the last six in her current position.
