KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The latest housing millage recommendations have been made to get three more housing projects up and running in Kalamazoo County.
County housing director Mary Balkema says an Edison Neighborhood project would provide the fire suppression system needed to open a development for women with substance abuse problems, another would help fund a place for men with substance abuse issues and the third would be phase two of the Tiny House Project.
“Healthy House in the amount of up to $300,000, Edison Community Partners in the amount of $500,000,” she says, adding “the third one the committee scored was Hope Through Navigation for $450,000.”
According to a county news release, it brings the total to over $24 million in housing initiatives the county has funded this year.
Balkema says she will have more recommendations in December.
