KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County board will have a full agenda as they resume their annual meeting to finalize next year’s budget Tuesday.
They still have some decisions to make before taking the final vote, some of them major.
Administrator Kevin Catlin says they now know what their state funding looks like after state lawmakers went right to the deadline and beyond to approve their budget.
It looks like good news.
Board chair Jen Strebs says their spending plan is on time, within budget, and an example of democracy that works.
Vice Chair John Taylor says the budget isn’t perfect, but it will work.
Also yet to be decided before the final vote is how they handle the issue of overtime and persistent vacancies, a funding shortage in the courts, community grants recommendations and other items.
A final vote on the budget is on the agenda for later during Tuesday’s 6:30 meeting.
