KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The suspect in a 2023 fatal drive-by shooting in Kalamazoo has been arraigned on murder charges.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says 23-year-old Raymond C. Moore, Jr. is charged in connection with the June 7, 2023 shooting death of 17-year-old Markii Jerrell Robinson.
KDPS says Robinson was walking through an alleyway in the 1100 block of East Stockbridge Avenue when he was shot and killed in the apparent drive-by shooting. The suspect vehicle was later found burned in the 5500 block of Meadowstone Drive.
In August 2023, a 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with third-degree arson related to the vehicle fire.
They say after continued investigation by police, the Kalamazoo County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney authorized open murder and felony firearm charges against Moore last Wednesday.
Moore was taken into custody by members of the Crime Reduction Team Friday and was arraigned before District Court Judge Kathleen P. Hemingway Monday.
Bond was denied and Moore remains in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
