BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office reported two separate firearms-related arrests in the City of Springfield over the weekend , as part of ongoing patrol efforts .
The arrests involved a 48-year-old Battle Creek man found with a stolen handgun during a traffic stop and a Battle Creek juvenile apprehended after a pursuit, found with a stolen AR-15 rifle and ammunition.
The 48-year-old is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

A juvenile petition was submitted for 15-year old for Resisting and Obstructing an Officer, Possession of a Concealed Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm
The sheriff’s office says these arrests are a direct result of proactive policing and its commitment to reducing gun violence and deterring criminal activity.
The investigation into both incidents is ongoing.
