COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Palisades nuclear power plant in Covert Township has received its first shipment of nuclear fuel as Holtec International moves toward restarting the plant.
They received 68 new fuel assemblies this week and the delivery comes two months after the Nuclear Regulatory Commission reauthorized the plant in late August.
Palisades has been shut down since May 2022 when Holtec purchased it to decommission the facility.
Instead, they decided to try to become the first nuclear plant in the United States to restart.
