MENDON, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – International Automotive Components Mendon is laying off 178 employees in early December.
The company filed a notice with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity that the job cuts are permanent.
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, letter says most of the employees are general laborers, but some salaried and skilled positions are also being let go.
The United Auto Workers union represents the workers and say the layoffs are due to the end of production for the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair that they build interior components for and the factory is not closing.
