PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A home in the 300 block of Cameo Avenue in Portage has fire damage in the attic and smoke and water damage throughout the home after a fire there early Wednesday morning.
Portage Public Safety was called to the home around 1:45 a.m. and found smoke coming from the roof of the single-story home.
Everyone was able to evacuate safely and crews got the fire contained and under control quickly, and put it out fully about 20 minutes after they arrived.
No one was hurt.
The investigation has determined the preliminary cause of the fire was a ventilation fan in the ceiling.
