PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 47-year-old man is in the Calhoun County Jail after being arrested following a chase involving several law enforcement agencies Thursday night.
The sheriff’s office was called to the Taco Bell at 1307 NE Capital Avenue in Pennfield Township just before 7:30 p.m. for a welfare check on a man who was unresponsive in a vehicle.
Lifecare Ambulance Service and the Pennfield Township Fire Department cleared him medically, and sheriff’s deputies discovered he had an active felony warrant for his arrest. They tried to take him into custody, but he fought back and injured one deputy with his vehicle when fleeing the scene.
They tried to pull the man over after finding his vehicle a short time later, and he led them on a chase into Eaton County. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was helped by Michigan State Police and the Potterville Police Department in the chase, which ended after they deflated the man’s tires.
The deputy was treated and released from a hospital.
The suspect is facing several felony charges.
