DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Detroiters have made history by selecting city council president Mary Sheffield as the city’s next mayor.
Sheffield will become the first female to lead the city when she is sworn in and started her campaign two years before the election.
She will succeed Mayor Mike Duggan, who is running as an independent for Michigan governor in 2026.
Sheffield outraised pastor Solomon Kinloch, pulling in $2.8-million compared to his $700,000.
Duggan endorsed her after the primary election in August.
