DORR TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Southbound US-131 is still closed from 100th Street in Kent County to 142nd Avenue in Allegan County after a semi hit the 146th Avenue overpass Sunday afternoon.
The crash in Dorr Township was the third time an overpass in the area has been hit this year.
Michigan Department of Transportation spokesman John Richard says the bridges were build in the 1950s and have a clearance of 14-feet-three-inches, below today’s standard bridge height of 16-feet.
He says the damaged beam will be replaced before US-131 can reopen.
