EATON COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 76-year-old man is hospitalized at Sparrow Hospital after the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police stopped him in Eaton County around 2 a.m. Wednesday after he was seen going north in the southbound lanes of I-69.
Deputies deployed stop sticks three times after trying several times to get him to pull over. They were able to get in front of the vehicle and get it to stop near the 53 mile marker after following him from mile marker 40.
He was determined to be having a medical emergency and was disoriented.
The sheriff’s office was alerted to the wrong-way driver in the area of northbound I-69 near I-94 after getting several 9-1-1 calls.
This case remains under investigation.
