KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The public transit system in the Kalamazoo area is getting with a financial shot in the arm, with the Central County Transportation Authority (CCTA) in Kalamazoo receiving a $972,000 federal grant.
Congressman Bill Huizenga announced the grant Friday. He says the Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Competitive Program makes federal resources available to states and direct recipients to replace, rehabilitate and purchase buses and related equipment and to construct bus-related facilities, including technological changes or innovations to modify low or no emission vehicles or facilities.
Huizenga wrote a letter in support of this competitive grant funding for Kalamazoo to the Department of Transportation.
“This federal funding will help modernize and replace outdated buses in Kalamazoo,” said Congressman Huizenga. “I am proud to have successfully advocated for Kalamazoo on this important transportation issue and glad the Trump Administration directly recognized the importance of connecting the Kalamazoo community.”
