KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – 24-year-old Isaiah Willhite has been sentenced to between 40 and 70 years in prison for his role in the 2021 murder of 31-year-old Gerryone Kye in Kalamazoo.
Willhite will spend at least 42 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
Kalamazoo Public Safety responded to a home in the 1300 block of North Rose Street on reports of a shooting and found Kye shot several times. He died at the scene.
Investigators determined two men forced their way into the home in an armed robbery and killed Kye. Willhite was identified as one suspect and co-defendant Julius Robinson Jr. is in federal custody outside of Michigan, waiting to be transported here for trial.
