KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One man was injured after reports of gunfire early Wednesday morning in Kalamazoo.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says around 3:45 a.m. dispatch received multiple calls reporting gunfire near Stockbridge Avenue and John Street. One caller reported they had been shot. Officers then observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed toward a local area hospital.
The victim, a 22-year-old male, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper legs and was transported for medical treatment. The vehicle showed numerous bullet strikes. Officers later located a possible scene near the 1800 block of Vanzee Street, where multiple shell casings were found.
The victim’s injuries are considered non-life threatening.
KDPS says their investigation is continuing.
