BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There were no injuries in a fire Sunday night at a home in Battle Creek.
The Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance were dispatched to the report of a residential structure fire at 10 Glenwood Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy black smoke throughout the home with no visible fire. Once they stretched a hose line to the first floor they and found fire in the walls that had extended to the second floor and attic space.
A ventilation hole was cut in the roof to allow some relief for crews on the second floor battling the blaze at the wood frame home.
Estimated property damage was $120,000, with contents damage estimated at $50,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the BCFD Fire Marshal’s office.
