LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits have changes they will face starting January 1st.
As part of President Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” people between 18 and 64-years-old are required to work, train, or volunteer at least 80 hours every month.
There are exceptions for residents of six cities, Bay City; Detroit; Eastpointe; Flint; Jackson; and Saginaw and for 15 counties in northern Michigan.
The state will also be responsible for 75% of expenses for staffing, maintenance, and outreach.
That is up from 50% now.
