LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Republicans in Michigan are cheering and Democrats are jeering the action taken by the U.S. to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro Saturday morning.
Congressman John James posted that he and his “buddies fought in a 20-year war because Bush and Obama couldn’t get done in four terms what Trump just got done in four hours.”
Congressman Bill Huizenga thanked the men and women who carried out the attack and says “anyone connected with Maduro should be viewed as illegitimate.”
Republican state Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt of Van Buren County is also supporting the action taken by the U.S., saying on X that Maduro’s capture “is a major win in the war against narco terrorism.”
Democratic U.S. Senator Gary Peters, however, said “the American people did not ask for this” in terms of President Trump saying Saturday the U.S. will now run Venezuela.
Congresswoman Haley Stevens said taking over Venezuela when Americans can’t afford groceries and rent is “unacceptable.”
