KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – New Kalamazoo City Manager Malcolm Hankins got an extended welcome to the position last night, a meeting that did not adjourn until just before midnight.
Hankins was given the oath soon after the Pledge of Allegiance.
He made a brief comment before the commission launched straight into the agenda.
Commissioner Chris Praedel conceded it was a long night, made even longer by nearly an hour and a half of public comment.
The next meeting will likely go even longer when the proposed Asylum Lake carwash rezoning will be on the agenda.
Mayor Dave Anderson says the night they swear in a new city manager is a rare event for a city commission, and he hopes it always will be.
