GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were held in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo yesterday in response to the shooting death of Renee Good in Minneapolis this week.
People gathered at Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids last evening, chanting “No ICE, no KKK, no racist USA.”
Around 300 protested at the intersection of North Kalamazoo Avenue and North Park Street in downtown Kalamazoo, with a banner reading “No one is illegal on stolen land” and holding signs including “No Justice, No Peace,” and “Melt ICE.”
Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga issued a statement urging people to calm their rhetoric regarding ICE.
