DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – President Donald Trump said in Detroit before the Detroit Economic Club that he is “making America affordable again.”
Trump’s comments came after he toured a Ford plant in Dearborn and claimed his global tariffs have forced automakers to move plants from Mexico and Canada into the United States.
His remarks also came the same day a report showed consumer prices rose less than expected in December.
Trump also called for a 10% interest rate cap on credit cards for one year during his speech.
He also spoke about gas prices, international affairs, the 2020 election, and political opponents. Trump also said Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell “will be gone soon.”
Ford Motor Company says it has suspended an employee who is a UAW member for heckling President Trump yesterday.
The worker, identified as TJ Sabula, yelled “pedophile protector” at Trump while the President was touring a plant in Dearborn.
The President responded by mouthing “f— you” at Sabula twice before flipping him off as he kept walking.
Sabula says he has “no regrets whatsoever” about calling out Trump, but says he is concerned about the future of his job.
White House spokesman Steven Cheung released a statement saying “a lunatic was wildly screaming expletives in a complete fit of rage,” and the President gave “an appropriate and unambiguous response.”
