LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The state House has voted overwhelmingly to ban cell phones in classrooms.
The bill passed 99-to-10 Wednesday and was among the goals Governor Whitmer laid out in her 2025 State of the State address.
Lawmakers from both parties say the ban will put teachers back in control of their classrooms and puts students’ focus back on the teacher and the lessons being taught.
The bill has exemptions for emergencies and medical reasons and needs to be approved by the Senate before going to Whitmer.
