BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 25-year-old Battle Creek man is in the Calhoun County Jail for allegedly breaking into the home of his ex-girlfriend in the 100 block of North 29th Street around 8:30 Saturday morning.
Police responded to the home and learned he ran away after the 23-year-old roommate of his ex stabbed him in the stomach when she was losing consciousness with him choking her.
He was arrested after going to Bronson Battle Creek for treatment of his stab wound and was taken into custody after he got medical care.
The man is accused of breaking a back window and forcing his way inside where the 23-year-old and his 22-year-old former girlfriend were. The roommate confronted him, with him assaulting her.
Police gave the two women information about crime victim support services to connect them with trained advocates who offer emotional support, explain legal rights and next steps, and help them access practical resources during their recovery.
The incident is still under investigation and no names have been released.
