LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Passionate testimony on three bills which would significantly restrict U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity was taken by the Michigan Senate Civil Rights, Judiciary, and Public Safety Committee.
The package of bills would ban ICE activities at sensitive locations including schools, hospitals, and places of worship; restrict law enforcement use of masks except in specific and clearly defined circumstances; and ban the state from sharing sensitive personal information with ICE without a judicial warrant.
No vote was taken on the bills.
Community leaders from around the state spoke in support of the bills during testimony.
