LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall says he will investigate the Michigan Public Health Institute, saying he feels it’s a government scam.
The Richland Republican says the nonprofit is used by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to operate around $200-million worth of various programs, and between 80 and 90% of its business is from MDHHS.
Hall says he started looking into MPHI when he was the chairman of the House Oversight Committee and plans to continue that work.
The House Oversight Committee and Appropriations Committee held a joint hearing on MPHI Wednesday, but no potentially explosive subjects were addressed.
