BUDAPEST, Feb 6 (Reuters) – Hungary’s budget deficit will be around 5% of the GDP this year and next year, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with state radio on Friday.
Orban faces an uphill struggle to revive the economy ahead of a competitive April election. In December Fitch Ratings cut Hungary’s credit rating outlook to ‘negative’, citing a worse trajectory for public finances amid fiscal loosening in the run-up to national elections and the risk of more measures to come.
