LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall is siding with President Donald Trump in Trump’s threat to prevent the Gordie Howe International Bridge from opening without getting concessions from Canada.
The Richland Republican says the threat from the White House would help create revenue for the state without needing to raise taxes on people.
The Canadian government paid for the construction of the bridge, and former Governor Rick Snyder made the deal that Michigan would reimburse Canada through tolls.
Former Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan says the bridge project was done “on a bipartisan basis, and it needs to get open.”
