KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan Nurses Association says the union nurses at Beacon Kalamazoo Hospital, which used to be Ascension Borgess, have ratified a new contract.
The deal includes a total 14% raise plus incentive pay for extra shifts they pick up along with improvements to their health insurance, limited on-call duty, and improvements to their paid time off, including “fending off changes Beacon forces on non-union employees.”
The contract was approved with 97% of nurses voting in favor. The talks started October 2nd and the contract runs through December 14th, 2028. They had been working without a deal since December 15th.
