MILAN, ITALY (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer stopped in Milan, Italy this week to meet with Michigan athletes representing Team USA in the Winter Olympics.
Whitmer talked to ice dancers Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik along with Madison Chock and Evan Bates on their love for the state and fun questions like “Vernor’s or Faygo” and asking them which of the Great Lakes is their favorite.
She had planned to become a sports journalist when she was a student at Michigan State University in the 1990s, but her father convinced her to go into public service.
Whitmer made the trip to Italy after an international trade mission to Germany.
