BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two firefighters sustained minor injuries after falling through a large hole that had burned through the first-floor dining area of a home in Battle Creek Friday morning.
The Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance responded shortly after 7:00 a.m. to a report of a possible residential structure fire in the 100 block of East Kingman Avenue.
Fire crews brought the blaze under control in under 10 minutes.
Both injured firefighters declined medical treatment on scene and are recovering at home. They are expected to return to duty on their next shift. No civilian injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Battle Creek Fire Marshal.
