BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 62-year-old Battle Creek woman is alive after the city’s fire department had to pull her from her Jeep Wrangler after she crashed it into a light pole and went into the Kalamazoo River.
It happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday near 20th and Jackson streets in Battle Creek.
Firefighters say she was unconscious behind the wheel and the Jeep was 10 to 15-feet into the river.
Police are investigating if she had a medical emergency that caused the crash.
She was brought to shore and treated in a LifeCare Ambulance before she was released.
The Jeep was towed out of the river after she was transferred to EMS care.
