March 30 (Reuters) – IMAX said on Monday that CEO Richard Gelfond, who is being treated for pneumonia, was taking a temporary medical leave.
The cinema operator’s daily operations will be managed by senior executives in coordination with Chairman Darren Throop, it said.
“We have a strong, deeply experienced senior executive team who are fully engaged, providing regular updates to the board, and remain focused as always on the continued growth and success of IMAX,” Throop said in a statement.
Gelfond will not participate in IMAX’s upcoming events, including industry conferences slated for next week, during his leave, the company said.
IMAX reported fourth-quarter revenue of $125.2 million in February, ahead of analysts’ estimate of $120.7 million, according to data compiled by LSEG.
