BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A driver who suffered an apparent medical issue has died in single-vehicle crash Thursday in Battle Creek.
A 42-year-old man from Bedford Township was driving north on M-37 near Marvin Street around 4:00 p.m. when witnesses reported seeing him slump toward the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
Investigators found no signs of braking, and the crash is believed to have been caused by a medical emergency.
LifeCare Ambulance and the Bedford Fire Department responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures. Despite those efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at 4:42 p.m.
The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The incident remains under investigation.
