POKAGON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two adults and five children were injured when their vehicle rear- ended another on M-51 in Cass County’s Pokagon Township Saturday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m. deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash in the area of M-51 and Crystal Springs Street.
Their investigation showed that a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Thomas Hanson from Niles was northbound on M-51 when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by 63-year-old Brian Bowditch of Portage that was also northbound on M-51.
Hanson and his passengers, 35-year-old Rayann Hanson of Niles and five juveniles were transported by SMCAS Ambulance to Memorial Hospital and Niles Corwell Health for injuries sustained in the crash.
Deputies say the juveniles were not wearing their seatbelts or in proper child restraints.
The crash remains under investigation.
