KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A third arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of security guard in Kalamazoo earlier this month.
20-year-old Oscar David Wygant of Battle Creek was arraigned Monday on a charge of Accessory After the Fact to a Felony in connection with the April 12, 2025 shooting death of Montine Wiley, Jr.
Wygant is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail on a $1,500 cash/surety bond.
Two other Battle Creek men were arraigned last week in connection with the shooting, with 18-year-old Kaiden Cole charged with murder.
Wiley was working as a security guard during a large event at a business in the 400 block of East North Street just before 11:00 p.m. when an altercation broke out involving a patron attempting to enter the venue. During the confrontation, Wiley was fatally shot.
“The investigation into the tragic death of Mr. Wiley remains a top priority for our division,” said Danielle Guilds, Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division. “We are committed to holding all individuals accountable who played a role in this senseless act of violence, and we will continue pursuing justice on behalf of Mr. Wiley and his family.”
