KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Just days after city officials released data showing a decrease in violent crime, there has been another murder in Kalamazoo.
Thursday at 10:47 p.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 1200 block of North Park Street for a report of a shooting that had just occurred. First arriving officers located the victim, a 21-year-old Marktavion Perry-Bennett of Kalamazoo, and determined he had been struck by gunfire.
The Perry-Bennett was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
KDPS announced Friday afternoon that a suspect was arrested in Muskegon, with help from the Muskegon Police Department and Michigan State Police. He is expected to be arraigned Monday, April 28.
