Portage to hold one-year anniversary event of May 7, 2024 tornado

PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Portage will host an event to mark the one-year anniversary of the May 7, 2024 tornado.

The commemoration will honor the community’s resilience, remember the challenges faced, and recognize the recovery efforts of volunteers, elected officials, and partner organizations.

The event will feature remarks from elected officials and city leader, a moment of reflection, and a symbolic tree seedling giveaway.

It will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Celery Flats Pavilion, located at 7335 Garden Lane in Portage.
