PLAINWELL, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A former paper mill site in Plainwell is being eyed by two housing developers.
The mill closed in 2000, was purchased by the city from Allegan County in 2006 and demolished in 2022.
It is 15 acres along the Kalamazoo River and M-89, and Allen Edwin Homes and Watts Home and Construction both pitched their ideas to the city last night.
City Manager Justin Lakamper says they will take their time to decide which developer will get the contract, and adds construction won’t begin anytime soon.
