KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The first head coach and general manager of the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team has died.
The ECHL team says Bob Lemieux died at 80 late last week, surrounded by his family.
Lemieux was the K-Wings coach from 1974 until 1977 and was GM from 1974 until 1979.
He and his family stayed in Kalamazoo after that.
Lemieux played for the Oakland Seals in the NHL along with the International Hockey League’s Muskegon Mohawks and the Western Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks.
