WAYNE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A suspect is in custody after police say he threatened a family member with a firearm Thursday morning in Cass County’s Wayne Township.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 25000 block of Morton Street for a man with a gun threatening a family member.
They say the suspect also threatened to burn down a residence with the occupants still inside.
When deputies arrived on scene, they arrested a 52-year-old male and ensured all occupants were safe. A search of the residence was conducted, and deputies located a firearm described by the victim.
The suspect was arrested for felony firearm, domestic violence and felonious assault.
The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment on the charges in the 4th District Court. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is still ongoing.
Agencies assisting with the investigation were the Dowagiac Police Department, Pokagon Tribal Police Department, and K-9 Sitka.
