NOTTAWA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say a teenager was killed in St. Joseph County after being ejected from a vehicle during a crash Sunday night.
Troopers responded to the single vehicle crash on M-86 near Shimmel Road around 9:30 p.m. It was determined that a Dodge Charger driven by a 19-year-old female from Three Rivers was traveling west bound when it passed another vehicle, ran off the roadway, and overcorrected before going airborne and rolling over.
There were six additional occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash. A 13-year-old female was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased at the scene. The family has been notified.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash, that does remain under investigation.
The Michigan State Police were assisted by St. Joseph County Sheriffs Department, Constantine Police Department, Three Rivers Fire Department, Centreville Fire Department, Lifecare EMS, Victim Services, Michigan Department of Transportation, and St. Joseph County Central Dispatch.
