KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Sometimes brevity is a virtue, and it’s the personal touch that makes all the difference.
Kalamazoo city commissioners have picked a firm to do the search for their new city manager, that they say exhibited both those attributes.
Raftelis, an executive search firm with offices all over the U.S., was the unanimous choice.
Raftelis sent Pamela Wideman, the executive who would actually be heading up the search, to make the presentation last week, and she managed to make her case in less time than the other two candidates.
Commissioners were impressed.
Here are Chris Praedel and Alfonso Wilson.
Mayor Dave Anderson and Vice Mayor Jeanne Hess added this.
Raftelis was also the choice of those residents who spoke at the special meeting.
Negotiations will be held between the firm and the city to come to terms on a price, contracts will be drawn up and approved, and the search will begin.
