PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There is some good local economic news that came out of the governor’s office yesterday.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that Pro-Services of Portage would be receiving support from the Michigan Strategic Trust Fund to support their expansion plans in Kalamazoo County.
Portage City Manager Patrick McGinnis made mention of it at this week’s council meeting.
“They’re going to invest $12 million, another 250 jobs in Portage. Very exciting to see that.”
Pro-Services is located on Merchant Place. They provide installation, maintenance and workforce solutions to industrial and commercial firms.
You may have seen their red, white and blue service vans in the community.
McGinnis hinted they may also be seeking incentives from the city.
“A little ways to go with our Community Development Department, Pro Services is a valued local employer.”
The 250 prospective jobs would pay just over $28 an hour, which is about the regional median wage.
