LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Today is the deadline by law for state lawmakers to pass the Fiscal Year 2026 budget.
Michigan House Minority Leader Ranjeev Puri says House Speaker Matt Hall’s approach to the budget was destined to fail and the passage of two bills this year that were marketed as a government shutdown prevention plan showed him that.
Puri says developing a budget “does not happen overnight” and adds Hall has left him out of meetings and conversations.
He added Democrats will support a budget that reflects their priorities, but if the Republicans lead with divisive rhetoric, they will not support it.
