KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – That popping sound you heard on the 4th of July in Kalamazoo may have been more than firecrackers.
Public Safety Chief Dave Boysen says they are still investigating four shooting incidents in Kalamazoo Friday night and Saturday morning that sent 8 people to area emergency rooms. One died, one is critical and the other six should recover.
Boysen is making a plea to the community for tips on who may be responsible, because he knows there are witnesses out there.
He says they will be redirecting manpower to address the outburst in gun violence, to prevent retribution that could claim more lives.
Kalamazoo Public Safety has released the name of the man who died. 34-year-old Leetrail Bible was shot in the 1200 block of Paterson at about 3 a.m. Saturday, where a large crowd had gathered.
