KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – 50 local teachers are getting a boost for their classrooms this fall, as The Salvation Army of Kalamazoo hosts its 2nd Annual Teacher Tailgate event this Thursday.
Salvation Army officials say the event from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at their location at 1700 South Burdick Street will welcome the pre-registered local teachers for an afternoon of classroom resources, community support, and “well-deserved pampering before the start of the new school year.”
Teachers will receive bundles of classroom supplies, participate in a conflict resolution session, enjoy chair massages, swap books, and take home gifts provided by local businesses. Complimentary food for attendees is being provided by Red Robin.
This will also mark the first official community event for The Salvation Army Kalamazoo’s new commanding officers, Lts. Simon and Sarah Micula.
“We’re honored to be part of the Kalamazoo community and thrilled that one of our first events is something so meaningful,” said Lt. Simon Micula. “Teachers give so much of themselves. This is just one small way we can give back and show them they’re valued.”
