LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A state government shutdown on October 1st is looking like a real threat.
Democratic Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks of Grand Rapids says she is worried about that and reports she and Republican House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland have not held a one-on-one meeting in about a month.
Hall countered by saying he didn’t want to contradict her statement, but “I actually talk to her quite a bit.”
Here are Hall and Brinks.
The legislature missed its July 1st deadline by law to pass a balanced budget.
Schools across Michigan remain in limbo without a state budget being approved.
Classes are starting very soon and the districts were required to have their budgets finalized by July 1st.
