KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Raul Galvan has been named the new executive director of the Southwest Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross Michigan Region, the same chapter where his Red Cross career began.
As Red Cross officials say as executive director, Galvan will lead the Kalamazoo-based chapter that covers eight counties. He will collaborate with all Red Cross services lines in the chapter including disaster, blood collection, lifesaving skills training, and helping members of the military, veterans, and their family members prepare for, cope with, and respond to, the challenges of military service.
Galvan previously served as regional director of the Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) and International Services in Michigan for the past two years. Prior to that, he was regional preparedness and planning manager from 2019 to 2023. Galvan joined the Red Cross in 2015 as disaster program manager of the Southwest Michigan Chapter.
In addition to his Red Cross career, Galvan is a military reservist. Currently, he serves as a civil affairs officer for the U.S. Army Reserve in the 308th Civil Affairs Brigade, headquartered in Homewood, Illinois. Prior to that position, he served as a civil affairs officer for the Kalamazoo-based 415th Civil Affairs Battalion from March 2010 to May 2021.
